Kilnformed glass pendant on chain

Available in black & transparent glass or Black & red

Dimensions 5.8cm x 5.8cm x 4mm

Handcrafted contemporary maori glass design

This pendant is an interpretation of the Kākā pōria a small bird leg tether that Maori used to assist in taming young kaka parrots.  They were also worn as personal adornment a pendant made from bone or stone such as the highly prized pounamu (greenstone jade).  Being valued heirlooms they were passed down through the generations.  This design reflects that value, the transperent line representing whakapapa - generational interconnectedness beyond space and time intergrated into a symbol that transcends cultures.
